Garber, Lin
(Garber, Verlin Lloyd)
February 26, 1935 - October 19, 2023
Lin left this life to be with his husband Jay and other loved ones early this morning [Oct. 19, 2023]. On Oct. 1, he was taken to the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with severe potassium deficiency. Ten days later, his nephew John Kaufman took him to his primary care provider for a follow-up to that ER visit. In that time he had lost 12 pounds. He told the PCP at that visit, "I want to go to hospice and I want to die." Hospice services started the next day.
Lin's health declined rapidly. By Oct. 18, he had lost the ability to stand. Nephews John Kaufman and Don Garber, in consultation with hospice and the doctor, decided that he should be transferred to healthcare. Pain and anxiety meds had started the night before, and he died in his sleep before the referral to healthcare was complete, and before he had been informed.
Lin donated his body to the Indiana [University] Anatomical Education Program. Plans for a gathering in Lin's honor will be announced later.
Garber, Marion
September 21, 1960 — February 24, 2023
Ladonia, TX - Marion Garber, age 62, of Commerce, Texas, passed away February 24, 2023, after a brain aneurysm.
He was born in Hartville, Ohio, on September 21, 1960, to the late Ura and Catherine (Troyer) Garber. He was married to Dorcas (Yoder) on March 3, 1982.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorcas; son Lamar Garber and his wife Kimberly of Clarkson, KY, with their children Kezia, Kenan, Jadon, and Abigail; son Julian Garber and his wife Beth of Cañon City, CO, with their son Jace; daughter Evalina and her husband Derek Overholt of Commerce, TX, with their children Alec, Megan, and Alanna; siblings Rosa (Titus) Martin, of Cincinnati, IA; sister-in-law Karen Garber of Strawberry, AR; Harlan (Linda) Garber, of Stevensville, MT; Wilma (Ernie) Yoder, of Strawberry, AR; Alton (Faith) Garber, of Stewartsville, MO; Marvin (Verna) Garber, of Madras, OR; Marie (Marvin) Miller, of Frankfort, OH; Lavern (Regina) Garber, of Strawberry, AR; Nelson (Lindsey) Garber, of Datil, NM.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Martha, and a brother, Vernon Garber.
Marion moved to Costa Rica prior to his marriage in 1982, where he lived with his growing family for 15 years.
In 1997, he moved to Deer Lodge, TN, with his family. But the Latin culture and people had found a special place in his heart. In the next years, he filled many preaching assignments and helped with numerous missions in Central and South America. He had a deep love for souls and a passion to influence as many people as he could for the Kingdom of God.
In 2009, he, and those of his family still at home, moved to Commerce, TX, where he helped to establish Living Word Believers Church.
The last five months of his life were spent in McAllen, TX, where he and Dorcas and other mission personnel reached out to many of the thousands of immigrants south of the TexMex border.
He spoke of great joy in speaking to these immigrants about the Lord, and in helping to bring God’s Word to them.
He ended a recent report of the work at the border with these words, which we believe reflect the burden of his heart: “May we all work faithfully here until that glorious day when we will be ushered into eternity. We trust and pray that many of these migrants will be with us on the dawning of that glorious day!”
As a family, we are deeply grateful for all the support and prayers through this time of unexpected loss and grief.
Visitation will be Monday, February 27, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. Both visitations and service will be held at 6310 County Road 4717 Commerce, TX 75428.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Garber, Julian Garber, Derek Overholt, Harlan Garber, Alton Garber and Marvin Garber.

Garber, Olene Gardner
September 24, 1924 - July 2, 2023
Olene Garber, 98, of Goshen, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, at her home.
She was born September 24, 1924 in Middlebury to Jesse and Dora (Miller) Gardner.
On June 20, 1943 she married Robert K. Garber in Goshen. He died June 27, 2017.
Survivors include four children, Sheryl (Bruce) Kooker of Apple Creek, Ohio, Wanda (Dean) Weirich and Stephen (Linda) Garber, both of Middlebury and Jerry (Jeanne) Garber of Vandalia, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Pam (John) Garber Billow, Bristol; 14 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 25 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Garber; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three sisters, Ellen Miller, Verda Ewing and Mary Newhouser and three brothers, Charles, Victor and Frank Gardner.
A member of Pleasant View Church, Mrs. Garber was head of cafeteria at Jefferson School and then Northridge High School. She volunteered at The Depot, Goshen and Rio Grande Bible Institute, Edinburg, Texas.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and Friday, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Pleasant View Church. Pastor Mark Snyder and Deacon Norm Maust will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Pleasant View Church.
Garber, Thelma E. Esbenshade
January 7, 1942 - August 28, 2023
Thelma E. Garber, 81, was carried to heaven by the angels on Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Glen, Willow Valley Retirement Community surrounded by her family. She was born on January 7, 1942 in Lancaster to the late Elias B. and Kathryn (Kreider) Esbenshade. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth B. Garber, celebrating 61 years of marriage in April.
Thelma is survived by her sons, Gerald (Jewel) Garber, Jay Garber, and daughter Janice (Darryl) Weaver, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Kathryn (Clair) Hershey and brother Glenn (LeeAnn) Esbenshade. Thelma was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Daisha Garber.
Thelma was a graduate of Pequea Valley High School and valedictorian of her class. She was a dedicated dairy/custom farmer's wife making Ken and her a great team. In later years, she enjoyed working part time at Central Market, Willow Valley gift shop, and Christian Light Bookstore. She will be forever remembered for her love of family and annual sand tart cookie baking and cabin weekends. She orchestrated many holiday meals, and her legacy of hospitality, kindness, and support lives on through her children and grandchildren. What mattered greatly was family and church involvement. She was a faithful member of Willow Street Mennonite Church where she had played piano, taught children's Sunday School for 35 years, and took great pleasure in laying out comforter tops with the sewing circle which are shared throughout the world.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Willow Street Mennonite Church, 399 E Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA 17584 at 3:30 PM with a visitation with family beginning at 2:00 PM. Garretson, Joelle Lynae
November 13, 2022 — December 7, 2023
Joelle Lynae Garretson, precious daughter of Joe and JaNelle (Eigsti) Garretson, was born November 13, 2022, at Women’s Hospital, Columbia Missouri. After one week there, Joelle was transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where she spent the rest of her life.
The angels came for Joelle on December 7, 2023, after suffering from a BPD (Bronchial Pulmonary Dysplasia) episode, at the age of 1 year and 24 days, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, St. Louis MO. These episodes were an occasional occurrence which required CPR to recover from, usually soon recovering.
Joelle was born prematurely with multiple complications and was then diagnosed with BBS (Bardet Biedl Syndrome). She spent the first 3 months in NICU. She had a heart defect called AVSD (Atrioventricular Septal Defect), for which she had 3 surgeries, which seemed to be successful. At 5 months old she had surgery to have a trach put in, which she had the rest of her short life. Her underdeveloped lungs were her greatest challenge, which made a ventilator necessary. She was on the heart floor until 3 weeks ago, when she was moved to the PICU floor.
Sharing the heartache of her parents, are 4 brothers, Jensen 18, Jackson 15, Jordan 10, and Jasper 5, maternal grandparents, Jerry and Shelby Eigsti, paternal grandparents, Duane and Eunice Garretson, 12 uncles, 7 aunts, 51 cousins and great grandmother Sarah Christner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Olive Hill Amish-Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Olive Hill School.
Burial will be in Olive Hill Cemetery.

Garretson, Kade Rio
Born: July 24, 2012 - Died: September 17, 2023
Kade Rio Garretson, beloved son of Roger and Stephanie (Kropf) Garretson, was born on July 24, 2012 in Daegu, South Korea. He went to be with Jesus on September 17, 2023 at the age 11 years, 1 month and 24 days.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his sorrowing parents; 1 brother Kordell 8; 2 sisters: Olivia 5 and Talia 8 months; 6 uncles; 6 aunts; 53 cousins; paternal grandparents Virgil and Sandra Garretson; maternal grandparents Steve and the late Connie and Edith Kropf; paternal great grandparents Les and Bert Hostetler.
He was preceded in death by his grandma Connie (2013); his Aunt Wendy Kropf; cousins: Kyler, Kylan and Dominic; great grandparents Don and Merlene Hostetler, Amos and Alice Kropf and Joseph and Mabel Garretson.
Visitation will be Wednesday September 20, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Fairfield Amish Mennonite School, Tampico. Funeral service will follow on Thursday at 10 AM at the Fairfield Amish Mennonite Church. Burial will be at the cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico.
Gehman, Anna W. High Hurst
October 28, 1925 - July 31, 2023
Anna W. Gehman, 97, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2023, at her residence.
She was born in Fairmount, Lancaster County to the late Christian G. and Anna G.(Weber) High and was the wife of the late Lester W. Gehman.
She was a member of Indiantown Mennonite Church, Ephrata and was a faithful servant to her Lord. She served as a children's Sunday School and Bible School teacher and was active in the Sewing Circle. Anna was a homemaker. She enjoyed sending cards to family and friends, quilting, gardening, sewing, and ceramics.
Anna is survived by five children, Anna Ruth Martin, Mary Kathryn Landis, Lester Jr. husband of Ruth Ann Gehman, Joanna, wife of John Horning, Jewel, wife of Gary Martin; a daughter-in-law, Helen Hurst; 22 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; eight siblings, Christian High, Jr., Alverta Martin, Floyd High, Clyde, husband of Martha High, Martha Zimmerman, Mary Wenger, Marvin, husband of Gladys High and Miriam Sauder.
In addition to her parents and second husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence S. Hurst; a son, C. Glenn Hurst; a brother, Raymond High, a sister, Esther Groff and a great-granddaughter, Harper Horning.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 11 AM, at Indiantown Mennonite Church, 255 Indiantown Road, Ephrata PA, followed by her funeral service at 11 AM, with Pastor Nelson Zeiset officiating. Interment will take place in the Indiantown Mennonite Cemetery.

Gehman, Esther Mae Weinhold Good
July 17, 1928 - November 7, 2023
Esther Mae (Weinhold) Good Gehman, 95, passed away on November 7, 2023 as a resident of Fairmount Homes. Born in East Cocalico Township, she was the daughter of the late Daniel R. and Martha (Landis) Weinhold.
She was the loving wife of the late A. Harland Good, with whom she shared thirty-six years of marriage until the time of his passing in 1983 and the late Lester W. Gehman, with whom she shared twenty-three years until the time of his passing in 2013.
She was a member of Gehman Mennonite Church. She was a homemaker and had worked in the cafeteria at New Holland Elementary School for eight years and Garden Spot Middle School for thirteen years until her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed quilting for her family and for the Fairmount Homes Auctions and traveling, especially to Sarasota, FL where she would reside every year during the colder months.
Esther is survived by her children; Ray H. husband of Doris (Hess) Good of Florida, Glen L. husband of Ruth (Bonsignore) Good of Landisville, Joyce E. widow of John Mohn of Ephrata, Janet L. wife of Dennis Sauder of Olanta, PA, Jay N. husband of Debra (Eberly) Good of Denver and Joan M. widow of Frank Swayze of Akron, her stepchildren; Mary Lynn wife of John Miller, Lowell D. husband of Joyce (Good) Gehman and Nelson D. husband of Dianne (Weber) Gehman. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and numerous step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she is predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Bethany Grace Fellowship, 400 Reading Road, East Earl, PA 17519 with Pastor Phil Horning officiating. There will be a viewing held for one hour prior to the time of service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.

Gehman, Henry H.
August 22, 1932 - December 2, 2023
Henry H. Gehman, 91, formerly of Denver, passed away on December 2, 2023 as a resident of Fairmount Homes. Born in West Earl Township, he was the son of the late Peter H. and Elsie (Hursh) Gehman. He was the husband of the late Martha R. (Martin) Gehman, with whom he married on November 25, 1954 and shared 67 years of marriage until the time of her passing on November 5, 2022. He was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church. He started out as a farmer, then later moved into cabinetry work and then became a realtor and broker for 30 years. He enjoyed beekeeping, gardening small produce, writing short stories and poetry, fishing and playing checkers and chess. He was previously involved in the prison ministry for several years.
Henry is survived by his children: Robert husband of Louann (Snyder) Gehman of Reinholds, Marion wife of Gary Bergey of Morgantown, Flo wife of Linford Weber of Fleetwood, Jane wife of Brad Weins of Hillsboro, KS and Geraldine wife of Ivan Reimer of Meade, KS. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and his siblings: Eli husband of Hannah (Zimmerman) Gehman of CO and Rachel wife of Marty Zimmerman of CO.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Titus, Paul and Marvin Gehman, Kathryn Nolt, Elizabeth Burkholder, Anna Wenger and Naomi Nolt.

Gerber, David E.
December 23, 1936 - April 13, 2023
David E. Gerber, 86, of Kidron, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 13, 2023, in the same farmhouse where he was born.
David was born December 23, 1936 to the late Nathan and Elvina (Amstutz) Gerber. He married Leora Hostetler on July 20, 1963 and she survives.
David graduated from Dalton High School in 1955 and completed 1W service in 1957-59 at MCC headquarters in Akron, PA. He retired from dairy farming on the family farm in Kidron. He was a member of the Kidron Mennonite Church and faithfully listened to livestream services in his later years. Dad enjoyed planting fruit trees, reading, listening to classical music and discussing family history.Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Karen (Olin) Geiser of Dalton, Marla (Brent) Reinhardt of Goshen, IN and Nolan (Lori) Gerber of Kalona, IA; 12 grandchildren, Reuben (fiance Sophie Pearson), Elizabeth, Simeon, Jethro and Obadiah Geiser; Alex (Emily), Brooke (fiance Lucas Keyes), Mia and Jacoby Reinhardt; Sarena, Evelyn and Micah Gerber; siblings, Jim (Barb) Gerber, Barb Steiner, Norm (Kathy) Gerber and Aldis (Lupe) Gerber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at Sonnenberg Village, 13497 Hackett Rd, Apple Creek, with Pastor Carl Wiebe officiating. Gerber, Lois S. Bechtel Shank
April 10, 1943 - June 28, 2023
On June 28, 2023, Lois Shank Gerber, age 80, died at home in the loving care of her family, five weeks after a diagnosis of glioblastoma.
Born in Spring City, PA, Lois was the fifth of eight children of Norman and Irene (Souder) Bechtel. She graduated from Christopher Dock (HS '61), Eastern Mennonite (BS '66), and Univ. of Akron (MA '91).
Lois taught home economics and married Henry Shank in 1967. In the years that followed, they celebrated the births of Kristin, Karl, and Michael.
The family moved to Kidron, OH. After Henry died in 1983, Lois continued to lead Choice Books Ohio for 13 years.
In mid-life, Lois built a career as a mental health counselor. She married Lowell Gerber in 1997 and moved to Lititz, PA, in 2003. Lois was currently a member of Blossom Hill Mennonite Church in Lancaster, PA.
As a follower of Jesus, Lois advocated for issues including women in leadership, climate change, migrant justice, food security, and refugee resettlement. Lois continued a life of service by donating her body to research.
Lois took pleasure in gardening, books, food, and music. She enjoyed traveling with Lowell, and especially to her favorite beach at Cape May with their two beloved grandchildren, Adrian and Micah. She cherished gathering with her sisters and with her large extended family.
Lois was preceded in death by husband Henry M. Shank; parents; brothers Harold and Wilmer Bechtel; sisters Geraldine Stiedle, Lorraine Sayre, and Dorothea Ray.
Lois is survived by husband Lowell K. Gerber; children Kristin Shank Zehr (Kirk), Karl Shank, and Michael Shank; grandchildren Adrian and Micah Shank Zehr; sisters Eleanor Fuhrman and Doris K. Schmehl; and brother-in-law Keith Gerber.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held at a later date.

Gerber, Steven Jay
January 26, 1968 - October 17, 2023
Steven Jay Gerber, 55, of Kidron, OH passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 17, 2023, after week-long complications during recovery, after a difficult mitral valve surgery.
Steven was born on January 26, 1968, to Glenford and Lillian Gerber of Kidron, OH. After graduating from Dalton High School in 1986, he went on to study engineering at Goshen College and construction at ATI in Wooster, OH.
In 1988, Steven met Ana L. Vargas Sibaja in San Jose, CR on a language study abroad trip and later married her at Kidron Mennonite Church on June 16, 1990. He loved to continually learn “Costa Rican” Spanish and their culture.
Steven worked for 34 years at the family business Gerber Lumber & Hardware and then became Manager of Gerber Wood Products. He was a financial advisor for the Wood Component Manufacturers Association and was actively involved in learning and teaching leading edge techniques in wood manufacturing technology.
Steven was an intuitive innovator and enjoyed pushing the limits of experimenting with new materials for practical solutions. He could be found in his lab space during his time off, working on hobbies such as woodworking and model rocketry. He was also an avid birder and skilled photographer enjoying nature, hikes, and traveling.
Steven was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and served his family and community utilizing his practical abilities. For many years, he invested himself at the Kidron Historical Society and Kidron Mennonite Church.
Anyone who knew Steven knew that he was the most helpful, loving father, and spouse a family could ask for. Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian and his father, Glenford. He is survived by his wife Ana; daughter, Laura (Chris Boggs, granddaughter Selena); son, Daniel; sister, Cindy (Tim Ryder); and his brother Eugene Gerber (Tammy).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Kidron Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be no formal calling hours, but the family will receive friends following the services in the Fellowship Building of the church. Spidell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Gingerich, Christopher F.
February 23, 1940 - March 10, 2023
Christopher F. Gingerich, 83, of State Route 206, Walhonding, OH, passed away at home on Friday, March 10, 2023 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1940 in Jay County, Indiana to Fred E. and Katherine (Kauffman) Gingerich and married Malinda Miller on Feb. 10, 1966. He had made his home near Walhonding for the past 26 years having previously resided in Fredericksburg and Berlin. He loved being a farmer and had also worked as a painter and was a member of River of Life Church in Shreve.
Surviving are his wife, Malinda "Linda" of 57 years; children and their spouses, Emma Keen of New Castle, OH, Frederick and Miriam Gingerich of Stover, MO, Edward and Nettie Gingerich of Smithland, KY, Daniel and Mary Gingerich, Toby and Wilma Gingerich and Katie and Tim Miller all of Walhonding, David and Jana Gingerich of Farmland, IN, Chester and Michelle Gingerich of Muncie, IN, Jason Gingerich of Walhonding and James Gingerich of Warsaw; son-in-law, David Miller of Walhonding, daughter-in-law, Ashley Gingerich of Kentucky; 53 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Eli and Katie Gingerich of Hazelton, IA and Chester and PhoebeGingerich of Minnesota and a sister, Lizzie and William Plank of Auburn, NE.

Gingerich, Gladys R. Sommers
July 21, 1922 - January 18, 2023
Gladys R. Gingerich, 100, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Landis Homes.
She was born in Louisville, OH, to the late John E. and Bertha M. (Taylor) Sommers and was the wife of the late Ura "Urie" Gingerich.
Gladys was a charter member of Akron Mennonite Church and played an integral role in its inception and development. She was a Sunday school teacher and hosted the entire charter members in her home on Sunday mornings while the church was being built. Along with her husband, Ura, Gladys was a custodian of the newly constructed church for the first 10 years of its existence.
Gladys was an administrative assistant for the family business, Badorf Shoe Company, in Lititz, PA. She was instrumental in the development of the company's distribution center in Rothsville, PA, where she scheduled production and ran the very successful outlet store from 1980-1995.
Gladys was a loving mother and grandmother, forming a special relationship with each member of the family. A hard worker and accepting of others, she was the epitome of "unconditional love."
Gladys is survived by two sons, Duane E. Gingerich of Lititz, Merle E. Gingerich of Neffsville, and daughter-in-law, Joyce E. Gingerich of Harrisonburg, VA; seven grandchildren, Sherry Sheppard, Justin Gingerich, Brandon Gingerich, Joshua Gingerich, John Gingerich, Tabitha Gingerich, and Matthew Gingerich and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Owen Sommers, Merle Sommers, and a sister, Lavera Helmuth.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul E. Gingerich, and six siblings, Maxine, Mildred, Arlene, Lucille, Elvin, and Earl.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11:00am at Akron Mennonite Church, 1311 Diamond St., Akron. Interment will be a private ceremony in the Akron Mennonite Cemetery.

Glen E. Gingerich, 66, Arthur, Illinois, passed away at 5:55 P.M. on Friday, March 17, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Sunnyside Mennonite Church in rural Arcola, Illinois. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 20, 2033 at Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Sunnyside Mennonite Church. Pastor Brian Petersheim will officiate. Glen was born on February 24, 1957 in Tuscola, Illinois, a son of Elva W. and Sovilla A. (Mast) Gingerich. He married Eloise (Diener) on June 18, 1977 at Pleasant View Church in Arcola, Illinois.
Glen is survived by his wife, Eloise; four children, Anita Eshleman and her husband Brian of Kinzers, PA, Galen Gingerich and his wife Lisa of Richland, PA, Rachel Hershey and her husband Milton of Elnora, IN, and Amanda Wenger and her husband Bryce of Orrville, OH; eight grandchildren, Caden, Derek and Faith Eshleman, Charlotte and Sofia Gingerich, Philip and Peter Hershey, Eleanor Wenger, and also a grandson due to be born into the Wenger family next month; his father, Elva W. Gingerich of Arthur, IL; four siblings, Dannie Gingerich and his wife Laura of Arthur, IL, Mary Gingerich of Sullivan, IL, Steve Gingerich and his wife Karen of Sullivan, IL, and Duane Gingerich and his wife Tammi of Sullivan, IL; nieces and nephews; his father-in-law Dannie Diener of Lovington, IL, and brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as nieces and nephews from the Diener family.
Glen was preceded in death by his mother, Sovilla Gingerich, and his mother-in-law, Irma Diener.
Glen was a member of the North Vine Mennonite Church.
Glen taught at Arthur Mennonite School in the late 1970's and early 1980's. He farmed with Gingerich Farms from 1985 to 1995. In 1995, he and his wife started their own trucking company, G & E Transport. Glen semi-retired in 2022.
Glen genuinely loved people and had a fun sense of humor. He was always willing to help anyone in need, and was very generous with his time, talents and resources. He enjoyed woodworking, auctioneering and reading.
Glen loved the Lord and made serving the Lord and sharing the gospel a priority. He also loved and cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Katie V. (Miller) Gingerich, 78 years, 11 months, and 28 days, of Arthur, Illinois passed away at 12:35 A.M. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the HCK West Building, one mile south of Arthur. Bishop Daniel M. Chupp will officiate. Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery in rural Arthur, IL. Visitation will be held any time after 1:00 P.M. on Sunday August 6, 2023, and any time after 10:00 AM on Monday August 7, 2023, all at the HCK West Building. Katie was born on August 8, 1944, in Tuscola, IL. She was the daughter of Samuel H. and Verna E. (Yoder) Miller. She married Melvin A. Gingerich on November 9, 1967, in Arcola, Illinois.

Paul Mark Gingerich, 88, of New Holland, PA, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy, PA. Paul was born July 2, 1934, in Turner, MI, to the late Eli and Wilma (Eichorn) Gingerich. He married Arlene Byler on August 6, 1960, at Pigeon River Mennonite Church in Pigeon, MI. They shared sixty-two years of marriage.
Paul is survived by his wife, Arlene, and their children: Wilma (David) Bolt of Pendleton, SC, Janet (John) Esh of New Holland, PA, Roger (Veronica) Gingerich of Narvon, PA, Harvey Bland, Port Hope, MI, and Ivan Gingerich, Bad Axe, MI. He had thirteen grandchildren: Melissa (Ryan) Seibert, Nathan (Caroline) Bolt, Jesse (Ashley) Bland, Chris (Stacie) Esh, Stephanie (Tyler) Burkett, Hannah (Nate) Johnson, Bryan Bland, Hope Gingerich, Shania Gingerich, Evan (Nancy) Esh, Danny Gingerich, Elliot Esh, and Josh Gingerich. Paul had thirteen great-grandchildren: Trinady, Eli, Oliver, Damien, Runa, Owen, Ellieanna, Margaret, Conrad, Xana, Malachi, Hollis, and Vera. Also surviving is a sister: Mabel (Boyd) Knicely.
Through the years, Paul worked as a farmer, dairy tester, and mechanic. For most of his adult life, he was employed at Bay Medical Center in Bay City, MI, as a Paramedic and later in Special Diagnostic Testing. He especially enjoyed his gun collection, deer hunting, tractors, camping, traveling (to forty-eight states), McDonald's sausage egg McMuffins, Mtn Dew, ice cream, animals (especially horses), babies, and little children.
Paul loved the Lord. In Michigan, he served as a Sunday School teacher at Fairhaven and Pigeon River Church and was a member of the Huron County Gideons for many years.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a sister Marigrace (Gilbert) Shue.
A memorial service will be held at Meadville Mennonite Church, 5726 Meadville Rd., Gap, PA, on Sunday, March 12, at 2 p.m. A memorial service will also be held at Pigeon River Mennonite Church, Pigeon, MI, on June 25; a time will be announced at a later date. Gingrich, Joan L. Nissley
September 17, 1933 - May 9, 2023
Joan L. Gingrich, 89, of Lititz, PA, formerly of Landisville, PA passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 9, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born in Penn Twp., Lancaster Co., PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence R. and Martha Longenecker Nissley. She was the beloved wife of James M. Gingrich.
In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by four daughters; Trula Gingrich of Lititz, Twila Gingrich of Lititz, Jonelle Shenk (Elvin) of Lancaster, and Alicia Gingrich (Kirsten Peachey) of Oak Park, IL; a grandson, Liam Peachey of Oak Park, IL; and three siblings, John Nissley (Faith, deceased) of Lititz, Reba (Mervin Hess) of Lititz, and Nancy (Paul Hess) of Willow Street.
Joan attended a one-room school within walking distance of her family's farm near Manheim for her first eight years of education. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School, Harrisonburg, VA in 1951 and later attended Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, VA. She married Jim in July, 1955 and two years later they and their 9-week old twin daughters began a four year term of service with Eastern Mennonite Missions (EMM) in Honduras. Upon return to the States, Jim and Joan settled in Landisville where Joan devoted her time and energy to raising her growing family and volunteering with local church organizations. In later years, Joan was employed by EMM as a receptionist where she enjoyed meeting new people every day. An active member of Landisville Mennonite Church, Joan was a Sunday school teacher, a leader of the women's sewing circle and served in outreach to young families. In retirement Joan and Jim spent quite a few winters in Phoenix, AZ volunteering with local service organizations.
Throughout her life Joan lived and shared her core values - compassion, generosity and service - with her family and all that knew her. She was caring, patient and had a beautiful, genuine smile for all. Her hands were rarely still. She delighted in hosting guests in her home and was a superb cook and baker. Her potato buns are legendary. She was an excellent seamstress and early on outfitted her four young daughters; later she used her skills to create beautifully knitted shawls and quilts. She had a fun-loving and adventurous outlook and was always curious and interested in the people and places she went. Classical and acapella music touched her soul and in recent years became a vehicle of expression when spoken language was no longer possible. Throughout her long journey with Alzheimer's Joan maintained a gentle and loving spirit.
The family is grateful to the dedicated staff at Landis Homes who provided Joan with consistent and loving care through the course of her illness.
A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Landisville Mennonite Church, 3320 Bowman Rd., Landisville, PA 17538. Gish, A. Samuel
June 14, 1930 - April 5, 2023
A. Samuel Gish died April 5, 2023 at LGH after a short illness. He married Grace Anna Hershey in 1954 and celebrated 67 years of marriage prior to her death in 2022. Sam is survived by his children, Dr. Martin Gish and his wife Dr. Robin, Lynn Walker and her husband Dr. Jon, Dr. Joel Gish and his wife Ellanna, Dr. Jon Gish and his wife Stephanie, Michael Gish and his wife Teresa, brother Roy and wife Jeannine, 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife Grace, Sam was preceded in death by his parents Martin L. and Anna Fridy Gish, sisters Lois Martin and Millie Groff, brothers Mervin and Eugene and his son, Timothy.
"Pop" was a man of vision who was always full of ideas and worked as a farmer, truck driver and Amish hauler at various times in his life. In his later years, he continued to enjoy working on various vehicles and engines in his shop. He enjoyed making ice cream with "hit-and-miss" engines and at times cranking ice cream by hand with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sam attended Elizabethtown Mennonite Church and wanted everyone to know and experience the great love of God. While it's hard to believe that a man who lived life so fully could pass away at the young age of 92, we know that he and "Grammy" Grace Gish are celebrating their reunion in heaven.

David Karl Heatwole Goering, 53, a resident of Dayton Va., after a period of declining health, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Mr. Goering was born July 12, 1969, in Rockingham County and was a son of Ida Lois Heatwole Goering of Dayton and the late James Alfred Goering.
He worked as a poultry farmer and attended Dayton Mennonite Church. Dave’s humor, generosity, and encouraging words touched many in the community.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his siblings, Jim Goering and wife, Bonnie, of Spring Creek, Kathy Rhodes and husband, Steve, of Dayton, Samuel Goering and wife, Angela, of Dayton, Nathan Goering and wife, Marlene, of Keysville, Ga., Regina Knicely and husband, Fred, of Linville, and John Ralph Goering of Dayton; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Mr. Goering was preceded in death by a nephew, Jeremy Goering.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Dayton Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Audrey Bonita Good, 50, Newmanstown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family while undergoing medical care in Arizona. She was born in West Cocalico Township to Glenn and Jerilyn (Weaver) Hurst who preceded her in death. She was the loving wife of Merle Good.
Along with her husband she is survived by five children, Destinee L. wife of Keith Nolt, Manheim; Ashlin C., Colton A., Shiane L., Kaleah B., all at home. She is survived by a brother Byron G. husband of Joyce (Martin) Hurst of Denver; two sisters Michelle D. wife of Brian Nolt of Reinholds and Jerilyn Renee wife of Sheldon Martin of Denver, a sister-in-law Glenda Nolt of Ephrata. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two siblings Ardell Elaine Hurst and Philip Scott Hurst.
Audrey was a homemaker, loved her family deeply and those around her. She was a member of Millbach Mennonite Church.

January 25, 1938 - December 19, 2023
Barbara A. Good, 85, of Bowmansville, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at home. Her husband of 66 years, Leonard R. Good, survives. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Alvin C. and Thelma M. (Snyder) Rudy.
Barbara was a seamstress for many years in the garment factory. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was an avid birdwatcher.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children: David R. Good, Lititz, Michael L. Good, Ephrata, Kathy A. Cannel, West Chester, Timothy S. Good, Florida, and Daniel K. married to Holly Good, Waxhaw, NC, thirteen grandchildren, a great-grandson, three siblings: Sheila Rudy, Ethel married to Dennis Moyer, Scott A. married to Donna Rudy and a half-sister Roxanne married to Ted Sontak.
She was preceded in death by a brother William N. Rudy and a stepsister Gloria Forry.

Betty Sue Good, 83, of Newburg, Pa., passed away Sept. 30, 2023, at her home. She had lived most of her life in Broadway but recently moved to Pennsylvania to be near her daughter.
She was born July 9, 1940, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Mark “Dewey” and “Cleta” Mitchell Emswiler.
Betty Sue enjoyed traveling, Gospel music, and sewing many comforters along with her husband, which they donated to Christian Aid Ministries. One of her greatest joys was spending time with family. For a number of years each summer she planned a family gathering at Lost River State Park in West Virginia. She was a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church.
On June 9, 1962, she married Kenneth I. Good, who survives.
Also surviving are son, Kervin Good and wife, Erma, of Singers Glen; daughter, Donna Hostetler and husband, Galen, of Richland Center, Wis.; son, Marlin Good and wife, Edna, of Richland Center, Wis.; daughter, Pamela Garman and husband, Lamar, of Newburg, Pa.; sister, Bonnie Lahman and husband, Dewitt, of Broadway; brother-in-law, Norman Benner of Bridgewater; sister-in-law, Wanda Emswiler Simmers of Harrisonburg; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Emswiler, Harold Emswiler, Doris Benner and Mark Emswiler.
The ministry of the church will conduct a funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at Bethesda Mennonite Church, 15519 North Mountain Road, Broadway. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Bethesda Mennonite Church Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
There will not be any services at the funeral home.

August 20, 1930 - March 30, 2023
E. Richard Good, 92, a resident of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023.
Mr. Good was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Wade Henry and Maude Virginia Brunk Good.
He was a dairy and poultry farmer and a dedicated member of Mt. Clinton Mennonite Church for 68 years.
On Aug. 25, 1954, he married Wanda Lou Weaver of Harper, Kan., who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Phyllis Yoder and husband, Dale, of Bay Port, Mich., Barb Gunden and husband, Rodney, of Harrisonburg, and Janice Gandy and husband, John, of Millboro; siblings, Joan Osterhouse and Sue DeLeon; grandchildren, Mitchell Yoder, Megan Gilbert, Brad Gunden, Tyler Yoder, Neil Gunden, Rachel Mast, Johnny Gandy, Ryan Gandy, Stuart Weaver, and James Gandy, and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Good was preceded in death by two children, Eddie Good and Diane Weaver.
Following his retirement from farming, Richard worked in communications for Virginia Mennonite Conference and Missions. He loved music and sang in quartets and music groups starting in his teenage years. He also loved woodworking and particularly enjoyed making items to be sold at the Virginia Mennonite Relief Sale. He also loved traveling, and he and Wanda took many trips abroad, including service trips.
Pastor Jim Hershberger will conduct a memorial service Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Clinton Mennonite Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
At his request, the body was cremated and burial will be held privately.

Harold L. Good, 91, of Reinholds, died Friday, January 27, 2023, at Fairmount Home. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mabel Weaver Good. His first wife of 49 years, Elva M. (Martin) Good, preceded him in death in 2001.
Born in Brecknock Twp., he was the son of the late Charles G. and Jennie (Kring) Good.
Harold was the 4th generation to own and operate Good's Original Potato Chips. He enjoyed horseback riding until he was 90. Attending auctions was a favorite pastime.
He was a member of Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community but had most recently attended Berean Bible Church, Ephrata.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Martin M. married to Josephine Good, Myerstown, Lewis M. married to Lynn Good, Mohnton, Susan G. married to James L. Martin, New Holland, four step-children: Eugene married to Donna Weaver, Reinholds, Wilma married to Stan Horst, Denver, Linda married to Dave Snader, Denver, Michael married to Valerie Weaver, Denver, six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson, 18 step grandchildren, 23 step great-grandchildren and a brother Donald R. married to Barbara Good, Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by a son, Clifford M. Good, a sister Helen Haas, a grandson, Seth Martin and a stepson, Timothy Weaver.
His funeral will be held Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community, 210 Weaverland Valley Rd., East Earl, PA. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Milton R. Good, 79, of Dalton passed away peacefully at his home on July 27, 2023, surrounded by family.
He was born in Wooster on February 27, 1944, to the late Elmer and Esther (Good) Good.
On June 26, 1965, he married Ruth Martin, daughter of the late Irvin and Bertha (Martin) Martin of Nappanee, IN. They shared over 58 years together. She survives.
He accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of the Mennonite Church all his life.
Surviving are three sons and six daughters: Dorinda (Michael) Danner of Tunas, MO, Denise (the late Clifford) Steiner of Dalton, Lavonne (David) Fox of Shiloh, Judith Good of Dalton, Benjamin Good of Versailles, MO, Jean (Aaron) Fox of Versailles, MO, Karen (Dallas) Rhodes of Dalton, Richard (Bethany Amstutz) Good of Dalton, and Irvin Good of Dalton. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition, he is survived by 1 brother and 4 sisters: Ann (Wilbur) Steiner of Smithville, May (Darry) Neuenschwander of Dalton, Elmer Dean (Wanda) Good of Oconto, WI, Norma (Wain) Neuenschwander of Orrville, and Gloria (Michael) VanPelt of Columbiana; 5 brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Eldon Good July 25, 2020; a son-in-law, Clifford Steiner on May 1, 2023; a granddaughter.
He worked as a dairy farmer, and served in the 1-W program in Kokomo, IN. In his years at the Mennonite Information Center, he found enjoyment in meeting people from many parts of the world.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 2nd, at 10 am, at East Union Mennonite Church, 10678 Old Lincoln Way E., Orrville, with the ministers of the Valley View church officiating. Burial will be in the County Line Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday, from 5-8 and Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 at East Union Mennonite Church.
Memorial contributions can be made to Life Care Hospice, or Mennonite Information Center, or the mission fund of the Valley View Church.

Raymond H. Good, 73, gem of my life, of Lititz passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Lancaster General Hospital where compassionate care was received. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Luke N. and Martha Hoover Good. He was the husband of Dorothy E. Seibel Good. Raymond, a farmer, was a member of Clearview Mennonite Church, Manheim.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 5 children: Quentin husband of Ellen Martin Good of Waterloo, NY, Robin wife of Leonard Zimmerman of Denver, Averrill wife of Andrew Brubaker of Loysville, Angela wife of Joel Meyers of Elizabethtown and Sarah wife of Tyler Burkholder of York; 28 grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and 5 siblings: Arlene wife of Irvin Zimmerman of Savannah, NY, Ervin husband of Joyce Good of Lititz, Lois wife of Raymond Hurst of Denver, Lorraine wife of Wilmer Reiff of Annville and Kathryn wife of Harlan Hoover of Fleetwood. He was preceded in death by a son, Derrick Lee Good.

Graber, Adeline Kauffman
November 20, 1927 - August 1, 2023
Adeline Graber, 95, of Greencroft Goshen, formerly of Middlebury, passed away at 9:35 am, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at her Evergreen apartment in Goshen. She was born on November 20, 1927, in West Branch, MI, to David and Katy (Jantzi) Kauffman. On December 24, 1947, in Middlebury, she married Sam Graber, he died on October 1, 2021.
Surviving are daughter, Sonya (Tom) Miller of Middlebury; three sons, Lawrence "Larry" (Karen) Graber of Sarasota, FL, Mark (Yolanda) Graber of Anchorage, AK, Jay (Grace) Graber of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Esther (Glen) Riegsecker of Middlebury, Edna (Floyd) Graber of Middlebury, Cora (Joe) Graber of Three Rivers, MI, Ruby (Floyd) Miller of White Pigeon, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 74 years; daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Dean) Miller; stillborn son, John David Graber; eight siblings, Mamie (Levi) Riegsecker, Lewis (Orpha) Kauffman, Fannie (Joe) Eash, Maudie (Ezra) Graber, Henry (Elizabeth) Kauffman, Alvin (Mary) Kauffman, Barbara (Chester) Gingerich, and Floyd (Jean) Kauffman.
Adeline was always a dedicated and loyal partner to her husband and a wonderful mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful and forgiven church member, teaching Sunday School and Bible school for years, leading and supporting the Women’s Sewing Group, being a Stephen’s Minister, and a generous supporter of many charitable causes. She cherished her quiet time with Jesus, often journaling her concerns and prayers. Adeline loved travel, gardening, writing, crafting, reading, and praying for others. She kept a clean and beautiful home and loved entertaining family and friends, especially to play Rook and Dominoes. Adeline was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Middlebury.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 5, at Miller 8 Square Cemetery, 14153 CR 126, Goshen for a Graveside Service. A Celebration of Life Service will follow the graveside service at 11:00 am at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Phil Yoder. Memorials may be given to FMC Women's Sewing Group.

March 2, 1927 - December 8, 2023
Cora Graber, 96, of Three Rivers, MI, formerly of White Pigeon, MI, passed away at 1:02 pm on Friday, December 8, at Birch Meadows Senior Care, Three Rivers, MI. She was born on March 2, 1927 in Arthur, IL to William and Mary Ann (Mast) Miller. On August 21, 1948, at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, she married Joseph A. Graber. He passed away August 28, 2018.
Surviving are four daughters, Linda (Dan) Peterson of Granger, Lorraine (Neal) Mishler of Waynesboro, PA, LuAnne (Kerry) Hart of Ellwood City, PA, and Lois (Mike) Featherstone of Constantine, MI; two sons, Lowell (LaDonna) Graber of White Pigeon, MI, and Lester (Kristal) Graber of Washington, DC; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters (Mary Ann Schrock, Alta Berger, Celestia Lambright, and Elsie Beall).
Cora was a homemaker and a former member of Clinton Brick Mennonite Church. She enjoyed quilting, cake baking and decorating and spending time with her family. Joe and Cora lived in their farmhouse for 65 years and enjoyed 70 years of marriage. Together they loved to travel around the world.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 16, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Funeral services will follow the visitation, beginning at 12 noon, also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by her son-in-law, Dan Peterson. Burial will be in Clinton Brick Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to the Pregnancy Helpline of Three Rivers.

Lora Kay Graber, 16, of Odon, Indiana passed away on September 23, 2023, in Plainville, Indiana.
She was born on January 10, 2007, in Washington, Indiana to William and Loretta Graber.
Lora was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Viola Knepp, and Paul Graber.
Lora is survived by her parents, William and Loretta Graber, her special friend, Aaron Marner, her siblings, Jennifer Reene (Justin) Raber, Shawna Rose (Ezra) Knepp, Rebecca Diane Graber (Special friend Travis Raber), Marcus Devon Graber, Amy Jean Graber (Special friend Reggie Graber), her nieces and nephews, Kylan Lester Raber, Marissa Grace Raber, Blake Andrew Raber, Serena Faith Raber, Emberly Hope Raber, Adeleine Joy Raber, Kaden Drew Knepp, Aleah Jewel Knepp, Kiah James Knepp, Avery Rose Knepp, and her grandmother, Rosie Graber.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 27, 2023, at 1:00 P.M at Shiloh Community Center in Odon, Indiana. Burial will follow in North Bogard Cemetery in Odon, Indiana.
Visitation will begin Monday September 25, 2023, at Shiloh Community Center and continue through Tuesday September 26, 2023 until the time of service on Wednesday September 27, 2023 at 1:00 P.M.

Groff, F. Evelyn "Evie" Furtak
April 11, 1930 — May 20, 2023
F. Evelyn “Evie” (Furtak) Groff, 93, of Mattawana, formerly of Millmont and Port Trevorton, reached her Lord’s reward Saturday, May 20, 2023.
She was born April 11, 1930 in Snyder County to the late John and Lena (Stauffer) Gehman. On March 24, 1951, she married the late Joseph Furtak. After his death in 2000, she married Norman M. Groff on March 24, 2002, who preceded her in death October 20, 2020.
After passing her high school entrance exam, Evie helped provide for her family and worked at Gross’s Silk Mill in Port Trevorton. Later, she worked at Rathfon’s Nursing Home and in the kitchen at the Doctor’s Convalescent Home.
Along with her husband Joe, Evie started the bakery at Heimbach’s Country Store. People from local communities remember her baked goods, especially her cookies, pies, donuts, and angel food cakes.
“Grandma,” or “Aunt Evie,” as many people called her, loved people. She quilted, baked, and crocheted, always with giving in mind.
Evie was a member of the Susquehanna Mennonite Church, Port Trevorton and later the Millmont Mennonite Church.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan and David Heimbach of Selinsgrove, and Brenda Weaver of Mifflinburg; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Yoder.
Also surviving are four stepsons and daughters-in-law, Galen (Phyllis) Groff, Kenneth (Kathy) Groff, David (Mary) Groff, and Wesley (Wanda) Groff; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Sarah (Darryl) Yoder; step-daughter-in-law, Beverly Groff; 26 step-grandchildren; 81 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Harvey Gehman; one sister, Mary Kathryn Berkheimer; one son-in-law, John Weaver; one grandson-in-law, Kevin Peachey; step-son, Samuel Groff; and step-grandson, Gerald Groff.
Family and friends are welcome from 5 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, and 12 to 1 p.m., Sunday, at the Millmont Mennonite Church, 1250 Millmont Rd., where the service will be conducted at 1 p.m., with officiating ministers Roy Groff, Lewis Hoover, and Nate Reiff.
Burial will be in Grubb’s Church Cemetery, Port Trevorton.

Groff, Mildred M. "Millie" Myer
March 14, 1939 - 9 21, 2023
Mildred M. "Millie" Groff, 84, of Lititz, died peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Fannie Myer. Millie was the loving wife of the late Richard G. Groff, Sr. who died in December of 2022.
For many years Millie worked in the Deli Department at Weis Market in East Peterburg. She was a member of Erb Mennonite Church, Lititz. Millie's interests included flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting, cross stitch, embroidery, and making the best home-made candy. She loved taking care of her home. She enjoyed working her entire life and she deeply valued a good day of working for herself or helping others.
Surviving are four sons: Richard G. Jr. husband of Dianne Groff of McClure, Clair E. husband of Justina Groff of North East, MD, John D. husband of Rachel Groff of Bellville, Nevin L. husband of Roseann Groff of Lititz, four grandsons, seven great grandchildren, and a sister, Carol DeVerter of Reading. Preceding her in death are five brothers and five sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Millie's funeral service at the Erb Mennonite Church, 567 West Lexington Road, Lititz, on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 3:00 PM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Groff, R. Clair
March 29, 1939 - January 4, 2023
R. Clair Groff, 83, of Lancaster passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on January 4, 2023. He was the loving husband of Alma Smoker Groff for 63 years.
He was the son of the late Aaron L. and Mabel Gehman Groff. He attended Calvary Church and served on the usher team. Employed as a truck-driver most of his career, he retired from Carlos R. Leffler, Inc. and then worked at ATI Corporation in his retirement years.
He loved spending time with family and friends and had a jovial spirit. He was a devoted grandpa, great-grandpa and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Clair & Alma loved to travel and visited many friends and family along the way. They spent a lot of time on their Goldwing motorcycle traveling up and down the East Coast.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Geoffrey, married to Janet (Burkhart), Gregory, married to Christina (Bare), and Gina, married to Jim Yoder. Ten grandchildren, Kristen (Dave) Landis, Alyssa (Weston) Martin, Elliot Groff, Joshua (Jessica) Bare, Kyle Bare, Nicholas Bare, Caleb Groff, Talia Groff, Kameron Yoder, Kaden Yoder and ten great-grandchildren; Siblings, Lester (Marlene) Groff, Mary Jane (Harvey) Zimmerman, Aaron (Anna) Groff, Jr., Martha Mae (Marlin) Martin, Glen (Ruth) Groff and a sister-in-law, Thelma Groff Eberly. He was preceded in death by Melvin Groff.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.
